The Addiction Recovery Coach of Canada (ARCC) Society supports pregnant and parenting girls and women who are struggling with mental health and substance misuse issues.

ARCC has developed two programs with a focus on the prevention of FASD:

  1. The Moms Mentoring Moms –  a peer support group program with a mentorship component
  2. Based on the mentorship component of the Moms Mentoring Moms program, a volunteer coach training program called the Addiction Recovery Coach program (ARC)

The Fall 2013 newsletter includes information on the organization, short articles on FASD prevention, and a list of resources in the Victoria, BC area.

The Society also is holding an AGM on Friday, October 18, 2013 where Nancy Poole and Dr. Deborah Rutman will speak about supporting pregnant and parenting women who use substances. All are welcome, so if you’re in the Victoria area, be sure to drop by.

Janet Christie, ARCC Society Executive Director, was a speaker at the recent Living with FASD 2013 Summit and you can read more about her presentation here. Janet was also interviewed as part of the Women and Alcohol series by Ann Dowsett Johnston which you can read here.
