LCBO In-store Donation Program Raises Funds for Health Nexus
As part of its social responsibility program, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) raises money to support charitable organizations through its in-store Donation Box Program.
From September 1-30, members of the public are being asked to make donations to Health Nexus, a health promotion organization in Ontario which includes the Best Start Resource Centre. Individuals can make a donation at the checkout counter of over 600 stores which will support work to improve the health of pregnant women, infants and young children
In the past, the LCBO has also supported awareness strategies about alcohol and pregnancy by including information in its stores and FOOD&DRINK magazine. The LCBO is a $4.55 billion arm’s length agency of the provincial government. The LCBO finances all of its expenditures through its revenues from product sales. LCBO dividends are remitted annually to the Government of Ontario’s Consolidated Revenue Fund and contribute to Ontario’s ability to pay for schools, hospitals, roads and important social programs and major capital projects (read more about the LCBO here).
