The 4th International Conference on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: The Power of Knowledge: Integrating Research, Policy, and Promising Practice Around the World was held in Vancouver, BC on March 2-5, 2011. Webcasts from the plenary sessions and powerpoint slides from many of the breakout sessions are now available on-line.
Several members of our Network Action Team also presented at the conference; see an earlier post for more information.
If you’re overwhelmed by the number of presentations, here are some suggestions to get you started:
- The Power of Knowledge: Reflections from the Experience of Birth Moms (Part 1 of 7). This amazing panel of women includes Elizabeth Russell, Pip Williams, Linda Mitchell, Kathleen Mitchell, Janet Christie, Bernadette Fuhrmann, and Lorian Hayes.
- FASD prevention efforts in Scotland from a women’s health perspective. Maggie Watts discusses opportunities and challenges of providing prenatal care for the prevention of FASD. (8:43)
- From Stone Age to Space Age. The wonderful Lorian Hayes discusses the impact of colonisation on the culture of indigenous peoples from an FASD perspective (1h06). The image above is from her beautiful presentation.
